Danone Indonesia Achieved TOP Halal Award 2024

Jakarta, October 18, 2024 – Danone Indonesia once again successfully achieved 3 Top Halal Awards for its three brands which are SGM, AQUA, and Mizone under the categories of Kids Milk Powder, Bottled Drinking Water or Air Minum Dalam Kemasan (AMDK), and Isotonic Drink among 52 nominated brands. Top Halal Award is a form of award for companies with the best halal image that are judged on the basis of Top Halal Index survey results by IHATEC Marketing Research.

Vera Galuh Sugijanto, VP General Secretary of Danone Indonesia explained, “We are grateful for the awards granted to us. These awards prove that our products become the top of mind of Halal products for our Indonesian consumers. For us, the implementation of halal ecosystem offers a benefit as an additional value for our products in terms of economy, as well as becomes a form of quality assurance of our marketed products. We always strive to implement a halal ecosystem or supply chain that covers several industrial sectors ranging from the upstream to the downstream along with the related stakeholders such as our partners or our consumers. In our business operation, Danone Indonesia practices the halal aspect by ensuring that we use trusted and safe resources for our raw materials. Danone Indonesia also ensures that production facilities such as equipment, personnels, and processes are in a clean condition, free from any haram or impure (najis) substances, and follow the prevailing halal regulations and requirements.”

Evrin Lutfika, the Director of IHATEC Marketing Research pointed out that this award is aimed to give appreciation to the companies that are considered to be ready to compete in the global halal market. “The success of brand owners in obtaining the Top Halal Award license is a proof that the brand owners have managed to develop a strong halal product image. Therefore, they deserve the appreciation as top-tier halal brands in the mind of the millennial consumers.”

IHATEC Marketing Research conducted a survey for this award entitled “Indonesian Millennial Consumers’ Attitude and Behavior toward Halal Products” which was carried out in six major cities namely Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar, and Balikpapan involving 1,700 respondents. The respondents include the millennial generation with the ages of 20 – 39 years old. This criterion was decided under the basis that they have high awareness of choosing products from its halalness factor. The survey was done face-to-face by asking what halal brands that come in their mind the most for each category without giving them any answer options.

This is not the first time that Danone products such as SGM, AQUA, and Mizone receive these awards. They also received the same awards last year. “Once again, we are really grateful for the appreciation. This award will become our motivation to keep bringing high quality, healthy hydration and nutritious products and provide product assurances for our consumers,” Vera concluded.
