Jakarta, 4 May 2025 – Danone Indonesia was awarded three Platinum awards and one Gold award in the WSO Indonesia Safety Culture Award (WISCA) 2025. This appreciation is a recognition of Danone Indonesia’s extraordinary commitment in implementing and maintaining a strong safety culture in the company’s overall operations. The award, which was held at the Bidakara Hotel Jakarta, was also attended directly by the Minister of Manpower, Prof. Yassierli S.T., M.T., Ph.D. The WISCA 2025 Awards were attended by more than 114 companies from all over Indonesia, from various industries, where only 30 companies won this award from the bronze to platinum categories. Four of them were successfully obtained by PT. Sarihusada Generasi Mahardhika (Platinum), PT. Sugizindo (Platinum), PT. Nutricia Indonesia Sejahtera (Platinum), PT. Tirta Investama Mekarsari (Gold) which is part of Danone Indonesia.
On this occasion, Prof. Yassierli, S.T., M.T., Ph.D as the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia also expressed his appreciation for the WISCA 2025 activities. “The number of work accidents in Indonesia is still high and it does not include the informal sector. This is an alarm for all of us, especially at the Ministry of Manpower. The Ministry of Manpower continues to strive to provide the best, but in reality there are still thousands of companies in Indonesia that have not implemented the K3 Culture,” said Yassierli.
“I want to invite all of us to come together to see what we have built through the implementation of WISCA every year, as a great foundation for the development of K3 Culture in Indonesia. This effort is one of the ways we welcome the Golden Indonesia 2045, where we can no longer use the old work culture, which has not paid attention to the K3 culture, when we want to become a developed country. I need to emphasize that zero accidents do not mean zero fatality. If we only chase numbers without understanding human factors, we can create a fear culture, where in the end, workers are afraid to report incidents that occur. Lastly, compliance alone is not enough. Without a humane approach, a true K3 culture cannot be formed,” Yassierli concluded.
Responding to the award received by Danone Indonesia, Shahrul Nizam as Vice President of Operations of Danone Indonesia, said, “This recognition is a testament to our strong dedication at Danone Indonesia to occupational safety and has always been a priority in our operations. Our commitment to building a safety culture not only protects our employees but is also the foundation that can link sustainable business success and employee well-being. This is in line with our commitment through the Danone Impact Journey. Concern for the health and safety of employees is an integral part of showing that Danone Indonesia is not only focused on environmental and product sustainability, but also on the well-being of our employees, which ultimately supports the company’s overall goal of creating a sustainable positive impact. The implementation is not only in the form of strict safety systems and procedures based on the Wise Occupational Safety and Health Management (SMK3) system but is accompanied by periodic evaluations. We look forward to continuing this achievement and continuing to bring quality nutrition and hydration products to the people of Indonesia.”
On the same occasion, Soehatman Ramli as Chairman of the World Safety Organization (WSO) Indonesia conveyed his message about the Culture of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) in Indonesia. “Every year we welcome World K3 Day with real activities. We chose May 2 as a symbol of the link between World Safety Day (April 28) and International Labor Day (May 1)—two important moments to affirm how important the safety of our workers is,” said Soehatman.
“Through WISCA, we want to appreciate companies that have built a K3 culture according to the Ministry of Manpower’s target since 2015, in order to move towards a safety culture Indonesia. In addition, WSO is also committed to supporting the government in strengthening the implementation of K3 in each country. With this year’s theme, ‘The Impact of Technology on Safety,’ we hope that companies that receive awards in WISCA 2025 can be role models for other companies that have not implemented K3 Culture well,” concluded Soehatman.
The WSO Indonesia Safety Culture Award (WISCA) is an annual event that recognizes organizations for their excellence in safety culture. The award aims to promote best practices in safety management and encourage organizations to prioritize the safety and well-being of their employees.
