COMMITMENT TO NUTRITIONAL AND SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT INNOVATION

Danone is dedicated to enhancing public health through the development of food and beverage products. One of its key initiatives to tackle maternal and child health issues is the establishment of the Danone Nutricia Research-Sarihusada Research & Innovation (R&I) Center at the Sarihusada Factory in Yogyakarta. This R&I Center is an international hub for research and innovation, equipped with state-of-the-art scientific and technological expertise.

INSPIRING HEALTH TRANSFORMATION THROUGH >75 PUBLICATIONS

Danone SN Indonesia has published 75 scientific papers highlighting the transformative impact of nutrition, particularly for mothers and children. These publications focus on eight key areas: Malnutrition-related Diseases, Anemia, Prematurity, Stunting, Allergies & Immunity, Digestive Health, Healthy Aging, and Lactation.

SUPPORTING THE GOVERNMENT’S NATIONAL CAMPAIGN, TOGETHER PREVENT STUNTING

Together Against Stunting (Bersama Cegah Sunting) movement, aimed to cut the stunting cycle to contribute to government focus in reducing stunting and anemia prevalence with three approaches: Eating habit, prosper parenting, sanitation/hygiene, has reached >8.6 millions beneficiaries across Indonesia, with penta helix collaboration, will be continued in 2025.

HELPING TO PREVENT IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA THROUGH SCREENING PROGRAMS

Anemia is a still long-standing health issue in Indonesia and iron deficiency is a major contribution led to this. Early screening of iron intake could help to prevent IDA. We are partnering with multi-disciplinary experts to develop consensus to reinforce iron deficiency screening.

PROVIDING SAFE AND QUALITY DRINKING WATER ACCESS

99% of our water and aquadrinks portfolio are entitled to 5 Health Star Rating. We actively promote the consumption of water as the healthiest way to hydrate. Understanding the importance of healthy hydration amongst children, Danone Indonesia has launched pilot to provide access to safe drinking water at schools in rural area though the provision of water filters benefiting 86.400 students.

Danone Indonesia is committed to preserving water sources and the natural environment, by encouraging water circulation in and around production sites, and providing safe drinking water for people and communities in need.

Cutting Emission Across Our Value Chain.

We have launched eight key programs to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain. These include improving energy efficiency and switching to renewable energy in our operations, helping farmers adopt sustainable practices that reduce emissions, responsibly sourcing ingredients with a focus on deforestation-free supply chains, and transition to fully recyclable, reusable, or compostable packaging.

AQUA Home Service

Empowering housewives to sell AQUA products at home and providing a series of workshops and education about finance and micro and small businesses. Supports more than 13,000 members throughout Indonesia.

Warung Anak Sehat

The Healthy Children’s Warung (WAS) program provides training to Healthy Children’s Warung (IWAS) mothers to sell or process healthy food products. Running since 2011, this program involves 350 canteen owners spread across 4 cities.

Damping UMKM

Assistance activities for small and medium businesses in a series of training, coaching and sharing sessions. To date, the Damping program has provided benefits to more than 5,000 entrepreneurs and 2,300 alumni from the mentoring program.

Recycling Business Unit

Empower 10,000 waste pickers. Aimed at professionalizing the informal recycling sector while increasing income, health and safety for the scavenger community.

Empowerment of Surrounding Communities

Empowering communities around 24 Danone Indonesia factories. Socially and economically it impacts more than 52 groups, 1,400 people and increases production of 67 commodities.

Local Farmers Empowerment

Danone Sarihusada has empowered >500 smallholder farmers and 6 dairy cooperatives to increase milk productivity and quality as well as build climate resilience; through capacity building, hard investment, trial and innovation, and biodigester construction.
