Danone Indonesia Prioritizes Employees’ Mental Well-Being By Introducing The Rehat (Recharge Your Mental Health) Program

7 May 2025

Jakarta, January 16, 2025 – Work stress is a challenge faced by almost every worker in Indonesia. According to a survey by Mercer Marsh Benefit (MBB) in its Health on Demand 2023 Report, stress levels in Indonesia reached 26%, with 45% of employees admitting to having worked when mentally unwell. While workplace stress is often considered part of the routine, it is important for individuals to understand how to deal with stress in a healthy way to stay productive and maintain a balanced life. According to the Ministry of Health (2025), without proper stress management, workers’ abilities and performance will decrease, and stressful situations will worsen, making them vulnerable to various health problems. As a form of commitment to mental health, especially for its employees, Danone Indonesia presents the REHAT (Recharge your mental health) program with a talk show session for employees exploring the theme of “Mental Health at Work with Stand-Up Comedy” (06/02) at the Danone Indonesia office.

Prof. Dr. dr. Nila Djuwita Faried Anfasa Moeloek, Sp.M(K), Head of Kaukus Keswa, stated that “Indonesia is experiencing a demographic bonus, resulting in young people experiencing anxiety about how to take care of children and spend their life in old age. Indonesia has an average IQ of 78, while the normal range is at 110 or more. Imagine if one family has an IQ of 78 and the parents do not have the insight to foster a quality generation, how can their children grow and develop? The many problems in our society are related to mental health and need to be addressed. For this reason, FOKUS tries to find the common thread and what needs to be improved. Today, we come to the Danone Indonesia office to educate employees on how to eliminate anxiety, and how to prevent and avoid it.”

Dr. Ashari Fitriyansyah, Healthcare Nutrition Director of Danone Indonesia, explained that “Danone Indonesia is committed to bringing health to as many people as possible, both through nutritious products as well as internal and external social initiatives. Danone Indonesia strives to have an impact in the health sector, especially in mental health, through research and publication on wellbeing. We also strive to have not only an external impact but also an internal impact in line with the Danone Impact Journey pillars. To support Danone’s commitment to creating a positive work environment, today’s talk show will discuss mental health at work to provide guidance on managing stress in a positive way through a humorous approach and scientific insights. “

Dra Maria Stefania Ekowati Psi, Psychologist & Initiator of the Mental Health Caucus, explained that “An overwhelming workload, excessive demands beyond one’s competencies, and lack of appreciation are some examples of stressors in the workplace. These also affect how we manage them, which is related to things such as time management, taking time off for recreation, or doing stress-relieving activities such as journaling. Some signs and symptoms of stress that are important to recognize are physical and psychological symptoms, such as excessive anxiety and mood swings. However, if we get to the point of not being able to handle the stress, then we should consult an expert.”

Inaya Wahid, a Cultural Expert, shared her experience on mental health issues, “I believe we all go through lots of things and face various challenges. I often keep some of the things that traumatize me to myself because I think that reacting to them is unnecessary. As a result, my pent-up emotions sometimes explode into either anger or sadness. Last year, I also experienced some things related to failure and things that triggered me to see life as a bad thing. What I did to overcome this was to seek information, contact people who could help me, and consult a psychologist.”

Recognizing the importance of addressing mental health issues, especially at work, Danone Indonesia has an initiative to pay attention to the mental health of its employees through the REHAT (Recharge Your Mental Health) Program. REHAT exists to help Danone Indonesia’s employees improve their mental health and create a healthier work environment, starting from Promotion and Prevention, Early Detection/Screening, and Treatment. This service is assisted by experts through RILIV, a mental health application that provides online psychological counseling services, meditation, bedtime stories, relaxation music, and mental health education content.

“Today’s event and employee support for mental health in REHAT is part of BeWell, a welfare and benefits program implemented globally with the aim of supporting behavior change through the implementation of targeted actions grouped into 3 pillars, namely a positive impact on the health of Danone employees, their families, and the impact on community health. In addition to talk shows that focus on discussing mental health issues, today’s BeWell 2025 event also provides a consultation booth where Danone Indonesia employees can check their blood sugar, blood pressure, etc. Indonesia is in good health. We hope this initiative can positively benefit our employees and improve their health and productivity. This is done to detect stress early and ensure the well-being of Danone employees,” concluded Ari.
